SAM Matches Volunteer Hours in Trees Planted for National Volunteer Month

May 1, 2023

Community is one of SAM’s Core Values, and we like to show our commitment to the places where we live and work. With April being National Volunteer Month, we held our annual Community Roots initiative to plant trees for reforestation efforts. For every hour of volunteering service our employees reported between April 1-27, 2023, SAM matched by donating a tree to be planted through the National Forest Foundation.

We are proud to report that this year, our team members volunteered a total of 888 hours, helping to plant 888 trees.

Over the past month, SAM employees have volunteered in multiple capacities, benefitting over 70 organizations in efforts including picking-up trash at local parks, sorting food at local food pantries, coaching local soccer games, and much more. In addition to individual volunteering, several of our offices hosted a community service opportunity. These included:

  • The Austin, TX office picked-up trash at their local adopted highway stretch of TxDOT Adopt-A-Highway
  • The Charlotte, NC office made signs and cheered on the participants of Girls on the Run
