We’re looking for talented individuals to join our team. At SAM, we are committed to driving technological change while promoting and supporting a culture of inclusion.
Ryan Matthews is currently the Department Manager for the Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) group within the Dallas office. As the SUE Department Manager, he is responsible for the operations as well as leading business development efforts to bring new contract opportunities to the company. Ryan began at SAM as a SUE Project Manager before his promotion to Department Manager in 2018. He works closely with other department managers, market leads, as well as regional and national leadership within the firm.
After growing up in Austin, TX, Ryan studied Construction Management at Louisiana State University (LSU) and started his career working for Cardno, Inc., in Baton Rouge in 2011. As an Assistant Project Manager in a rapidly growing office, he was exposed to every side of the SUE industry, from project and personnel management to proposal writing and business development. In 2016, Ryan eagerly returned to his home state of Texas and joined SAM Companies. During his tenure, Ryan has worked with various clients in all market sectors, from transportation and oil and gas to electric transmission and municipalities. Ryan is currently the Clay Shoot Chair for the Dallas Post of the Society of American Military Engineers.
Ryan’s favorite SAM core value is People. His early mentors stressed to him that happy people produce the best work. Making sure people on his team are treated fairly, kindly, and with understanding has led to a very low turnover within his department and excellent service to their clients. Ryan is an avid golfer, enjoys hunting, and loves cheering on his LSU Tigers on Saturdays. He currently resides in Dallas with his wife, Meghan, where they enjoy traveling and spending time with family. In August of 2023, Ryan and Meghan welcomed their first child.
Land Surveying services in New York are conducted under our affiliated company, SAM-NY Geospatial, Inc.
