John Watson

John Watson, RPLS/PLS, joined SAM, having over 21 years of experience in the Renewables Industries along with over 32 years of land surveying experience. As the Corporate Renewables Market Lead, John’s expertise and skills provide for excellent project assessment and development, risk management, and operations. He focuses on providing land surveying services and development consulting in all phases of a renewable energy project lifecycle to clients along with maintaining strong relationships with landowners, title companies, real estate and title attorneys, and other land related professionals.

John attended Texas A&M University, where he studied Agricultural Economics with a focus on land management. He went on to graduate Magna Cum Laude from the University of Texas of the Permian Basin with a degree in History and a minor in Finance. An active and well-known member in the industry, John is a past president of the Texas Society of Professional Surveyors (TSPS) and a former Texas Governor to the Board of Governors of the National Society of Professional Surveyors (NSPS) and currently represents Texas as an Alternate Director to the Board of Directors of NSPS.

People is John’s favorite SAM core value. Beginning at an early age, he realized the valued connection between people, both personally and professionally, and understands the benefit of cultivating and maintaining relationships in all aspects of life.  People create the success of any professional endeavor and having trusted relationships provides for an overall successful team.  John currently resides in Midland, Texas with his family who share an avid love of movies, film, and music and likewise a passion for sports and the outdoors.
