Hector Gonzalez has over 36 years of experience in the transportation field. Throughout his career he has worked in various capacities, particularly within the Pharr District of the TxDOT. Among his many roles, he served as an Area Engineer, Design Lead, Director of Construction, and most recently as the Deputy District Engineer. During his tenure he provided extensive, hands-on assistance for countless projects within the district.  Hector has also served on multiple committees throughout his career within the construction industry, contributing to his comprehensive knowledge of transportation-related areas like traffic congestion, signal optimization, RR and bus transit components, among others. His long list of stakeholder contacts is instrumental in ensuring SAM-CS provides first-class service to all its clients.

Having joined SAM in 2018, Hector is currently an Area Manager within the Southern region. His primary duties include developing and implementing strategies that maximize business development. As Area Lead, Hector has been a key component in the development and establishment of an RGV and South Texas team, delivering quality and timely services to a variety of clients.

Hector graduated from Texas A&M University, studying as a civil engineer. Hector has been a registered professional civil engineer in Texas for over three decades. His affiliations include the Texas Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors (PELS). In addition, he is heavily involved with other associations such as the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), Texas Asphalt Pavement Association (TxAPA), American Concrete Institute (ACI), Texas Transportation Institute (TTI), and the General Contractor Association (GEC).

Though Hector demonstrates a strong commitment to all of SAM’s core values, community is the one most important to him. As a member of the local Boys and Girls Club, he has coached youth football, baseball, basketball, and softball. He is also a heavily involved member of his local Texas Hispanic Network, having participated in fundraising activities such as Casa Amparo BBQ, Mission Annual Pink Walk, RGV Food Pantry. He is also a 3rd degree knight within the local Knights of Columbus Council #2698, and just this year successfully raised more than $10K in scholarship money to give to deserving students. Lastly, Hector and wife Norma are the parents of three children. They take pride in knowing all three are college graduates, now beginning their promising professional careers. They currently reside in Mission, TX.
