Douglas Stephens has over 39 years of engineering industry experience in the design, construction, and maintenance of roads and highways throughout Texas. Doug is an Associate/Vice President and the Southeast Texas Area Manager for SAM’s construction services division. His responsibilities include business development and construction project management, while also working to grow the SAM-CS presence throughout Houston and greater Southeast Texas. Doug also provides strategic leadership for the company and the construction services market, working with the executive management team to establish long-term goals, strategies, and financial plans to accomplish SAM’s strategic objectives.
Doug is a Registered Professional Engineer in Texas and retired from TxDOT in 2012 after 28 years of service. He has also worked as a contractor, performing various highway maintenance programs across the state. Doug’s professional experience spans a variety of consultants, contractors, and industry professionals, successfully executing numerous types of projects for the transportation industry.
Doug’s favorite SAM core value is Excellence in Service. He believes that delivering a superior product to the client is a key element to growing the business and therefore producing a great work environment for all employees. Doug currently resides in Houston Texas with his wife, four adult children and their three grandchildren.
