SAM, Inc. Receives National ACEC Engineering Excellence Award

SAM, Inc. has received a national Honor Award in the 2012 Engineering Excellence Awards Competition held by the American Council of Engineering Companies. The competition has been held since 1967 to honor and recognize outstanding achievements within the engineering community for the top 24 engineering projects each year.

SAM, Inc. was recognized for a project that utilized mobile LiDAR mapping to support streetscape improvements for downtown Austin’s historic Sixth Street. The project was performed for the City of Austin Public Works Department. The award was given jointly to SAM, Inc. and the City of Austin.

A distinguished panel of 25-30 judges representing industry, government, academia, and media selected the winning projects based on uniqueness, originality, technical merit, value to the engineering profession, complexity and how successfully the projects met the needs of the client.

The award was presented at a gala event held during the ACEC National Conference in Washington D.C. on April 17, 2012. The president of SAM, Inc., Samir “Sam” G. Hanna, attended the event with other executives of the firm to accept the award. The Director of Public Works for the City of Austin also attended the ceremony.
