Smithville, Missouri Awards SAM Contract for GIS Mapping and Web-Based Services

March 3, 2022

SAM Companies has been awarded a three-year Master Service Agreement (MSA) to provide comprehensive planned and on-call Geographic Information System (GIS) mapping and web-based services to the city of Smithville, Missouri. Our SAM professionals will provide Smithville with a long-term GIS solution with accurate utility locations. Once completed, city staff will be able to view, edit, and analyze GIS data through a customized application for all utility infrastructure.

The city of Smithville is responsible for maintaining the streets as well as the water distribution, storm water, and sanitary sewer utility infrastructure. While some of the city has been previously mapped, this project will provide Smithville with a complete and accurate GIS, which will expand the city’s capabilities to include utility infrastructure asset management. The city will benefit from a web-based GIS platform accessible to multiple departments from any computer or mobile device.

SAM was selected based on our field-to-finish capabilities and our deep experience in local governments, the collection of utility data, and the development of GIS programs for utility infrastructure.

SAM Project Manager Ethan Herbek, said “Smithville has seen tremendous growth and provides a wide array of services to the community they serve. We understand the city has set ambitious goals for their GIS program, and we are excited to work with Smithville staff to ensure all of their goals for the program are met.”

Smithville joins hundreds of municipal and county GIS clients across the country, including over 100 in Missouri alone, to whom SAM provides ongoing support and service. Visit our local government page to learn more about SAM’s work across the country or here to see our approach to GIS solutions.
