SAM’s Cascade Tunnel Mobile LiDAR project has received a National Recognition Award from the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) as part of its national 2014 Engineering Excellence Awards. We are pleased to have been recognized as being among the notable engineering accomplishments in this year’s competition. The Cascade Tunnel project was also previously awarded a Gold Medal in the 2014 ACEC Texas regional awards competition.
The project involved mobile mapping of the Cascade Tunnel rail route in Washington State. SAM provided LiDAR collection services to support an engineering analysis being performed by J.L. Patterson, Inc. for Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF). SAM provided 3D mapping of the rail tunnel which connects the east and west side of Stevens Pass in the Cascade Mountains.
