SAM Ranks 102 Among ENR’s Top 500 Design Firms for 2016

Surveying And Mapping, LLC (SAM) has once again been ranked by Engineering News Record (ENR) as a top engineering design firm. Ranking number 102 for 2016, we’re pleased to be among the top companies on the annual ENR list of Top 500 Design Firms. SAM also ranked 75 for 2016 among the Top 100 Pure Designers, a category for companies not engaged in construction, number 10 in the Pipeline sector, number 20 in the Transmission and Distribution Plants sector, number 27 in the Petroleum sector, and number 50 in the Power sector.

The highly regarded ENR list is published annually and profiles the leading firms based on revenue. This is the fifth time that SAM has appeared on the list. SAM is one of the largest geospatial services companies in North America. The 2016 rankings were based on 2015 revenue, with SAM having a gross revenue of $135 million during that period.

In extended data for 2016 later published by ENR, SAM also ranked well in several specific geographic regions and market categories. For the Midwest Region in 2016, overall SAM ranked 53 among the 85 firms, with a revenue of $18.8 million in the region. This is up from the firm’s previous year ranking of 63. The ENR Midwest Region includes the states of Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Missouri, Ohio, and Wisconsin.

For the Texas/Louisiana region in 2016 SAM ranked 13 overall, with revenue of $106 million in the region. This was up from the firm’s previous ranking of 16 in 2015. SAM also ranked number 4 in the Petroleum sector and number 4 in the Power sector for Texas/Louisiana. For the Colorado/Wyoming region SAM ranked 46 overall in 2016.
