March 26, 2013

SAM-Construction Services (SAM-CS) announced today that it has been selected by the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), the Waco, Texas District and Belton Residency to offer management planning including inspection, materials testing, and consultation services for a freeway lane widening project. The project encompasses over seven miles of I-35, Section 2B from Midway Drive to North Loop 363 in the City of Temple.

Under the terms of the agreement, SAM-CS will act on behalf of TxDOT in all aspects of construction operations. Major work elements include traffic control, earthwork, drainage, concrete pours, illumination, utility installation, railroad crossings, bridges, retaining walls, and demolition.

SAM-CS will also help ensure that there is limited disturbance to the large volume of traffic that moves through this corridor. Due to other major roadway renovation projects taking place adjacent to this site, an increased level of planning is required.

In making the announcement, SAM-CS project manager James Kelley, PE, said, “We are pleased to be selected for this project. Our experience with TxDOT and our unique quality management system will be a big benefit to the successful completion of the project.”

Construction for this $250 million project is estimated to begin in May of this year and extend into 2017.
