SAM Awarded Contract On Design-Build Project To Improve Mobility On U.S. 183

September 8, 2021

SAM has been awarded a contract by the Parsons Transportation Group Inc. as part of a Design-Build project with the Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority (CTRMA) to improve the U.S. 183 North corridor in Travis and Williamson Counties, Texas. SAM will provide surveying services to supplement existing LiDAR data which will assist with the design of the project. SAM will also perform control verification, terrestrial scanning for existing bridge structures, and locate topographic and drainage features throughout the corridor.

Using conventional survey methods and terrestrial scanning, our teams will collect data utilizing the Trimble R10 Dual Frequency GPS Receiver and the Trimble SX10 Scanning Total Station. This technology will produce a highly-accurate 3D computer-aided design (CAD) base map that can be viewed from all angles and will facilitate the design phase of the improvement project. As this crucial data is needed before the project can move forward, our teams are operating on an accelerated schedule. SAM is able to mobilize our teams quickly and provide accurate data to meet the client’s tight turnaround time.

“We are very excited to support such a high-profile project,” said Scott Brashear, SAM Project Manager. “The combination of our ground surveying services with existing aerial LiDAR datasets will provide a solid foundation for the future design and construction of the project.”
