SAM Awarded Contract by WSP for SUE Services along Prospective Bus Route in Indianapolis, IN

July 21, 2022

SAM has been awarded a contract to provide Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) services for WSP. SAM teams will excavate up to 250 test holes along a new bus transit route running East and West through Indianapolis, Indiana. The new Blue Line by the Indianapolis Public Transportation Corporation (IndyGo) will make it easier for community members to navigate the city.

This project presents a unique set of challenges for the SAM team due to the length of the project and because the majority of the test holes fall on the roadway itself, requiring a high level of traffic maintenance. The client is particularly interested in Quality Level A test holes at prospective bus stations, with support from Quality Level B and below SUE investigation throughout the line to confirm the veracity of existing records. In addition to the test holes, SAM crews will provide assistance on culvert pipe replacement sites along the bus route.

“This is SAM’s largest transportation project in the state of Indiana to date, and it represents a big win for our continued expansion throughout the region. We are excited to lend our expertise to support Indianapolis’s public transportation infrastructure,” said SAM’s Senior Project Manager, Matthew Reinhart.
