September 7, 2022

SAM has been awarded a $1M contract by the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) as part of ongoing, long-term improvement plans for highway transportation infrastructure in Region 5, District 8. Our team will provide Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) and Utility Coordination (UC) services across the estimated 3,270 miles of centerline state road.

As needed, our teams will bring SUE solutions to the project, meeting the newly updated ASCE 38-22 utility engineering standard. Additionally, we will manage utility coordination for the District’s highway improvement program, including utility relocation, public and private facilities adjustment, investigating and approving permit applications, and preparing reimbursable work-order agreements.

SAM was chosen due to our extensive partnership with IDOT and our proven record of quality performance, accessibility, and practical solutions. IDOT will receive deliverables in both 2D and 3D, as required.

SAM Vice President and Office Manager Brandon W. Espinosa, PLS, shared, “We are eager to facilitate the completion of the District’s highway improvement program and look forward to continuing our long-standing relationship with IDOT.”

As one of the nation’s most experienced SUE and utility coordination providers, SAM is the partner of choice for state governments, municipalities, project owners, and engineering firms. Learn more about our industry-leading solutions on our website.
