SAM Announces 2022 Sam G. Hanna Honorary Scholarship Recipient

August 15, 2022

Each year, SAM Companies recognizes the academic and extracurricular achievements of our employees’ dependents and selects one or more outstanding applicant to receive the Sam G. Hanna Honorary Scholarship. The Scholarship Program began in 2017 and awards a total of $10,000 to applicants who demonstrate scholastic achievement as well as involvement in their school and local community.

SAM is pleased to announce this year’s Sam G. Hanna Honorary Scholarship recipient is Miss Campbell McCown, daughter of SAM Field Technician, Michael McCown, and Shannon McCown. Miss McCown exhibited outstanding academic performance while participating in a wide variety of community service and extracurricular activities during her high school years.

“I am very excited and honored to be chosen for the 2022 Sam G. Hanna scholarship! It means a lot to me to be able to help my parents with my college expenses. I hope that I will be successful and do well in college so that I can someday pay this investment forward,” said Miss McCown.

Miss McCown graduated from Grand Saline High School in Grand Saline, TX, earlier this spring while also taking dual-credit courses at Tyler Junior College. She will attend Baylor University in the fall of 2022 and plans to study biology and pre-medicine. After college, she is planning to attend medical school and is interested in becoming an OB/GYN. Miss McCown would like to continue her community service by doing mission work related to providing health care services in third world countries and eventually return to Grand Saline to offer medical services in her community.

“We’re beyond proud of Campbell and her extraordinary achievements thus far. The SAM Scholarship Program is a valuable initiative at this company. This scholarship opens more doors for her to succeed, and our family is extremely grateful,” said Mr. McCown. “It’s rewarding to see her hard work pay off, and we can’t wait to see our daughter’s bright future ahead!”

Miss McCown was officially awarded her well-deserved scholarship on Monday, August 8, at our SAM office in Dallas. Congratulations to the McCown Family.
