SAM Announces 2023 Sam G. Hanna Honorary Scholarship Recipients

SAM is pleased to announce this year’s Sam G. Hanna Honorary Scholarship recipients, Miss Leilani Hana and Miss Malia McClenaghan.

The Sam G. Hanna Honorary Scholarship began in 2017. Applications are open to the dependents of SAM employees, and a total of $10,000 is awarded to selected participants based on academic achievements and community involvement.

 

Congratulations to Miss Leilani Hana

Miss Leilani Hana is the daughter of SAM Project Manager, Maros Hana and Senior Office Technician, Nancy Hana. Miss Hana was involved in several extracurricular activities, including Link Crew, a program that provides first-year students with connection and a safe place to be in their first year of high school, Varsity Swim Team, Honors Technical Theater, and French Club. She was also a member of the National Honor Society, achieved the Maroon Academic Award for French, and participated in academic UIL in literary criticism. Miss Hana also volunteered at the following organizations: YMCA, Christian Students on Campus, and numerous events at her church, including children’s services and Sunday school.

“We are so proud of our daughter, Leilani, for receiving the Sam G. Hanna Scholarship and all her hard work leading into university. We are also very grateful to be at SAM, a company that supports young people in pursuing higher education,” said Nancy Hana.

 

Congratulations to Miss Malia McClenaghan

Miss Malia McClenaghan is the daughter of SAM Senior Project Manager, Michael McClenaghan and Jennifer McClenaghan. Miss McClenaghan graduated from Fisher Catholic High School in Lancaster, Ohio. She will attend The Ohio State University in the fall of 2023 to participate in the Civil Engineering program. Her goal is to receive a surveying license. During high school, Miss McClenaghan was involved in Varsity Softball, Golf, and Soccer. She was a member of the National Honor Society and participated in Irish 4 Life and Innertact. Miss McClenaghan also volunteered at the following organizations: United Way, Bottoms Up Diaper Drive, and Adopt-a-Family.

“Congratulations to Malia on her outstanding achievement! We’re excited to celebrate with her as she moves on to her next big adventure at The Ohio State University,” said Michael McClenaghan. “Receiving the Sam G. Hanna Scholarship is an excellent example of what Malia has accomplished; we are so thankful for the opportunity. This scholarship will help her along on achieving her journey. Keep it up! You have made us very proud, Malia.”
