Greene County, Missouri Awards SAM a Contract for GPS Mapping and Web-Based Services

June 16, 2022

SAM Companies has been awarded a project by the Highway Department of Greene County, Missouri, to provide comprehensive Global Positioning System (GPS) mapping and inspection services for the county’s 200-mile sidewalk network. SAM field crews will use RTK survey-grade technology in the field to map the sidewalk network and provide GIS maintenance services to develop and integrate the sidewalk information into the county’s existing geodatabase.

Our team will map deficiencies for this project, including hazards, obstructions, and poor conditions. Additional information will also be collected and recorded for future use, including sidewalk widths, ramp types, and sidewalk materials. To streamline workflows and keep the county apprised of our progress, data collected will be incorporated into our customized application, SAM IntegrityTM, allowing Greene County staff to utilize the GIS information from any computer or mobile device using a secure login. Once completed, this project will support future capital improvement projects across the county.

SAM has a longstanding partnership with the Greene County Highway Department dating back to 2016, for services including a signs GPS mapping project, the development of a GIS program, and a pavement inspection data entry web map.

SAM Project Manager Ethan Herbek said, “The County understood the benefits of using a GIS program for asset management long ago, and SAM is proud to support its efforts as they continue to expand their GIS capabilities. Having this knowledge about the infrastructure at their fingertips, they can easily prioritize projects, schedule rehab or replacement, and budget for maintenance.”
