March 27, 2020

SAM has been contracted to provide Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) and surveying services for a five-year contract with the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) District 8. The award includes a blanket agreement to be authorized by IDOT on a work order basis.

The scope of work for the contract includes determining the existence and approximate horizontal position of underground utilities through the application of appropriate surface geophysical methods (QL-B data). The exact horizontal and vertical locations of underground utilities will also be determined by physically locating them (exposing and surveying) at designated spots with the use of air-assisted vacuum equipment designed to protect the integrity of existing utilities (QL-A data).

“We are pleased to have been awarded this contract to support IDOT with Subsurface Utility Engineering services,” said Brandon Espinosa, Office Manager at SAM. “IDOT is a valued partner to SAM, and we look forward to continuing our support of the District and the State of Illinois.”
