Matt Sorensen joined SAM in 2020. He has over 26 years of experience working in the Geographic Information System (GIS) industry. Matt has extensive experience with GIS project management, data development, consulting and web-based services. He applies his unique blend of experience and understanding in providing local governments with GIS solutions to everyday, real world situations.
As Director of GIS Operations at SAM, Matt serves as project administrator and project manager for more than 100 projects throughout the country. Matt’s professional qualifications and experience have established him as a leading management professional and developer of GIS and web GIS solutions. Matt has a Bachelor of Science in Geography from Northwest Missouri State University and was part of a team of GIS professionals awarded the 2008 Esri Business Partner of the Year. Matt remains active in several GIS organizations and is the 2020 President of the Missouri Mapper’s Association.
Matt’s favorite core value is Excellence in Service. The benefits of providing quality work and services to clients can go a long way. He believes a quality GIS program can be a large investment and having a program clients can depend on is of upmost importance. Matt is married and has two daughters. He enjoys golfing and boating in the summer and is a huge Kansas City Chiefs fan.
