Cookie Munson has served as SAM’s General Counsel and Secretary for over 9 years and has been practicing law for over 30 years. As Vice President and Associate with the firm, she has extensive expertise in corporate law, business law, contracts, mergers and acquisitions, compliance and other business-related legal affairs. Cookie represents SAM in a myriad of legal and business matters including corporate governance, executive compensation plans, mergers and acquisitions, policy, risk prevention and management, protection of intellectual property and a wide range of other legal affairs. Her expertise with the company includes legal counsel regarding SAM’s diverse line of services.

Prior to joining SAM, Cookie was a Senior Attorney in the firm of Selman, Munson & Lerner, PC where she specialized in M&A, and prior to that, as General Counsel for 11 years with seven related entities in food manufacturing and packaging, food spice and blending, aviation, transportation, marine charter operations, real estate holdings, and land and cattle operations. She received her B.B.A. in Accounting from Texas Tech University, a Juris Doctorate from St. Mary’s University School of Law, and is a member of several professional legal organizations. Cookie serves as a member of the UT CLE Merger’s & Acquisition Institute Planning Committee and enjoys supporting a team in creating one of the nation’s largest conferences focused on M&A and attended by professionals from all over the world. Ms. Munson also currently serves as Vice President to the Austin-San Antonio Chapter of the Texas General Counsel Forum.

Cookie is very committed to public service and her favorite SAM core value is Community. She is a former member of the Board of Governors of LifeWorks Austin, a local nonprofit providing counseling, housing and education/workforce services for at-risk young adults and families. She continues to support the organization along with a group of outstanding Board alumni. Her philosophy is to find a way to pay it forward every single day, and she is most proud of SAM’s Corporate Social Responsibility program implemented to support the Company’s long-standing tradition of improving the communities where we work and live. She also enjoys hiking, cycling and running with friends in the Texas Hill Country and traveling with family to destinations abroad.
