SAM, Inc. Recognized Among Top Engineering Firms

April 23, 2012

Surveying And Mapping, Inc. has been recognized by Engineering News Record (ENR) as one the top engineering design firms. Based on annual revenue, SAM, Inc. ranked number 146 out of 500 on the highly regarded ENR Top 500 list, which profiles leading engineering design firms each year. Within the ENR market categories SAM, Inc. also ranked 12th for the Transmission and Distribution Plants sector, 37th for the Power sector, 10th for the Pipelines sector, and 30th for the Petroleum sector. The 2012 rankings appear in the April 23 edition of ENR magazine.

This is the first time that SAM, Inc. has appeared on the prestigious list. The firm’s debut at such a high level reflects the exceptional growth and business success the firm has recently experienced. SAM, Inc. is one of the fastest growing land surveying and aerial mapping companies in North America. In 2010, the firm grew their revenue by 67%. With more than 390 employees, the firm had $71 M in gross revenue for 2011—a 97% growth rate—and expects more than 20% growth for 2012.

SAM, Inc. is somewhat unique among firms appearing on the list. There are very few companies of their size that focus primarily on surveying, mapping and geospatial solutions to support engineering design. In addition to their market sector diversification, the firm has also made adoption of leading edge technologies, such as mobile and airborne LiDAR, part of its core capabilities. The strength of this combination has been a driving factor in their success.

According to Samir “Sam” Hanna, RPLS and President of SAM, Inc., “The entire SAM, Inc. organization is honored to have received this recognition from ENR. This is a gratifying validation of our efforts to build a company that provides the highest quality work for our clients.”
